Chancellor announces pre-Budget Report date

Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, will deliver his pre-Budget Report for 2009 on Wednesday 9 December.

It will be the last pre-Budget Report before the general election.

It is expected that the Chancellor, who will rise to his feet in the Commons at 12.30pm, will set out his plans for reducing the UK’s colossal public finance deficit and for coping with the fall in the government's tax revenues.
