JOB VACANCIES (No Agencies please)

If you are reading this you are already way ahead of other job seekers who have simply given their details to Agencies. It is likely you have found these words by your own initiative and your own research. This means you may well be the person we are looking for. (But please read the Updates below)

We will not under any circumstances consider any application introduced via an Agency.

We are not currently taking on any trainees.

The person we are looking for lives locally - between Southampton and Fareham - ideally close enough to walk into the office. You will be used to working in a general practice environment and you are used to dealing directly with clients and preparing accounts / tax returns etc through to completion, ready for approval by the principal. You are not a tax specialist. You are not an audit specialist. You are an all-rounder.

You are as interested in the clients as people as you are in the numbers on their tax returns. You are as interested in the clients' businesses as living, vital entities as you are in the numbers in their accounts.

You are probably looking for more responsibility. You want to look after your own portfolio of clients, working under the minimum of supervision, and yet working in a practice that uses state of the art IT, plus top end accounting and tax software. You are keen to be sent on training courses to ensure you are technically up to date.

You want to work for a practice that has sytems and procedures to ensure that all our clients have true Peace of Mind, instead of all the other firms out there who pay lip service to this objective but don't live up to it.

You may have accountancy qualifications, or you may be qualified by experience. If you are the right person, the latter is of no importance. It is your ability to do the job and willingness to receive ongoing training that matters.

You probably have strong views about how a modern accountancy practice should look after its clients - and we would like to hear them!

For your information, we use the following software in our practice:

Accounts preparation and tax returns Iris
Payroll Qtac
Bookkeeping software for clients More Bookkeeping Software
General office Microsoft Office

If you are interested and you fit the above profile, please send us your details. It will help your application if you make it clear in your covering letter that you have studied this website.

Please only apply if you meet the exact requirements outlined above. We receive a large number of speculative applications, many by email. .................."I can personally assure you that I read every single job application that we receive. However, the only applications that I will consider taking further are those that meet the requirements explained in the above paragraphs.......David Hancock"

"April 2012 - further update. Recruitment on hold - we are talking to possible candidates for the available positions. David Hancock - April 2012"

"April 2012 update - OK. We are getting really busy now and I am looking for (1) a reception/admin person who may have experience as PA to a Chartered Accountant and who may have ambitions to move into Bookkeeping/Accounting work, and (2) another member of the professional staff as outlined above. I hope you are both out there and look forward to hearing from you. David Hancock - April 2012."

"December 2010 Update - We have now taken on additional office space in the building and added another staff member (a qualified chartered accountant) to the team, who will be joining us in January 2011. The next person we are looking for is more likely to be someone who could be the receptionist/admin person in the office. The ideal candidate might have ambitions to do some bookkeeping/accounting work with the possibility of moving over to that role if an aptitude is shown...Please note, your application will only be considered if you are a local person - ideally you will live close enough to walk into the office. We are receiving applications from people who are not local, or their address is not clear on the application. These applications will not be successful...David Hancock December 2010"

"April 2010 Update - Our current outlook is that we are unlikely to take on another employee this year - unless we can obtain additional office space at our current location. We do not wish to change our office address so we are waiting for an additional office to become available in the building. When this happens we will be able to move forward comfortably and may well contact applicants who have written in or come to see us in the past........David Hancock, April 2010."

"Sept 2009 Update - Last month we recruited a new member of staff. Our office continues to grow, so it is likely that we will be looking for our next employee in the Spring/Summer of 2010..........David Hancock, Sept 2009"

"Oct 2008 Update- Credit Crunch - In the current economic circumstances we are a little more cautious now about expansion. Therefore, it is only worth your while sending in an application if you are an exact fit to our requirements, as explained above.....David Hancock, Oct 2008"
